Regular City Council Meeting

September 13, 2010

Mayor Taylor called the Regular City Council Meeting to order at 7:30 PM. 
Present: Damgaard, White, Weuve, Jones, Strong
Weuve made a motion to approve agenda, seconded by Jones – 5 ayes.
Public was present no comments were made.    
Tim Todd presented plan for sidewalk repair at the Dreamland Theatre.  It was agreed that the plan should work.   
Damgaard made a motion for Mayor Taylor to negotiate a contract with Iowa Waste Systems.  Seconded by Strong – 5 ayes.  Motion carried.
Damgaard made a motion to approve Resolution 2010-29 (Approve City Auction to be held on October 16, 2010 and attached list of City surplus items), seconded by Wueve – 5 ayes. Motion carried.
Maintenance Reports were given regarding: Water tower maintenance, Dodge truck, snowplow has been added to the Ford and Taylor is still looking for running boards.  Discussion was held regarding damage to water tower driveway.  Ron will repair the areas that were damaged. Extra gate at water tower was discussed.
White made a motion to approve Pay Request No. 6 (Final) for General Excavating, seconded by Strong – 5 ayes.  Motion carried.
Mayor Pro-Tem position was discussed.  Weuve will be moving into this position.
Damgaard made a motion to approve starting with October meter reads Ordinance 198 (City Code Chapter 92 Water Rates – 3rd and Final Read), seconded by Wueve – 5 ayes:  Damgaard, White, Weuve, Jones, Strong.  Motion carried.  Taylor discussed possibly purchasing water from Oakland in the future.
Wueve made a motion to approve Ordinance 199 (City Code Chapter 99 Sewer Rates-3rd and Final Read), seconded by Damgaard – 5 ayes: Strong, Jones, Weuve, White, Damgaard.  Motion carried. 
Damgaard made a motion to approve the consent agenda, seconded by Jones – 5 ayes.  The Consent agenda consisted of August 9, 2010 minutes, September 2010 bills, August 2010 Clerk & Treasurer reports, Overtime Report, Community Center Reports, Utility Report, Municipal Infraction Report.
Under Commissioner Reports White questioned what can be done with vacant lot by his home.  Ron will mow it and keep track of time to turn into Brianne.
Wueve made a motion to adjourn at 8:14 PM, seconded by Damgaard – 5 ayes.
